Oakham House, Toronto: Full Restoration of the East Facade

Built by the well known Neo-Gothic architect, and Toronto immigrant William Thomas in 1848 as his primary residence, it has since slowly deteriorated. The east facade maintains the building’s only traces of the past, the interiors having been repurposed over generations of use.

With rigorous archival research, and the discovery of documents since thought lost, I was able to completely restore the east elevation of this edifice to its original glory, as well as find a document containing drawings of William Thomas’ monuments and fireplace mantles, with one of the fireplaces maintaining the exact same details found in the facade.
